Even if you choose to not use a commercial 'Helper' program, you will still have to use a terminal program of some kind. The game server, the TWGS, is just a program running on a separate computer. The address of the game server and a few details about the games offered are usually put in a 'Game Bang' announcement on various tradewars websites by the host, or sysop.
