The game is called Tradewars for a reason. You Trade to buy fighters and shields for your ship, and then fight other players and aliens for the war.

The number of fighters you use is multiplied by the ship's combat factor to determine how much damage is done. Shields absorb the damage and when they are gone the damage goes to the fighters. If your fighters are all gone, your ship can be captured or destroyed.

The same for when you attack another player or alien. If the ship is destroyed if it has any corbonite on it, it deals damage to the attacking ship for revenge.

You can buy corbonite at the Star Dock hardware emporium. For each corbonite point it deals 20 damage to the enemy ship attacking that destroyed your ship. So if you bought 100 corbonite points, it deals 2000 damage, if 1000 it deals 20,000 damage, unless they capture your ship and then it does not go off...and your opponent sells off that corb. for cash.
